New England Tech to Train Fiat Chrysler Automotive Technicians to Combat Technician Shortage

September 18, 2017

The Center for Technology and Industry at New England Institute of Technology (91ֱ) – in cooperation with Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA US LLC) – has established an FCA Performance Training Center at 91ֱ’s Access Road campus in Warwick, RI.

In collaboration with the FCA Performance Institute, 91ֱ instructors will receive FCA-specific training relating to the service and maintenance of FCA vehicles. In turn, 91ֱ faculty will instruct FCA dealer technicians employed throughout the FCA distributor network.

“We’re delighted that New England Institute of Technology will join our efforts to increase the number of automotive instructors who’ll train new and existing service technicians in our U.S. dealership network,” said John Fox, Director of the FCA Performance Institute. “Enlisting the help of New England Tech is another step that Fiat Chrysler is taking to combat the industry shortage of trained service technicians.”

FCA logosCurrent Fiat Chrysler classes focus on the Fundamentals of Gas Engines as well as noise, vibration, and harshness training. Future plans include the enhanced training of 91ֱ instructors so that they can deliver additional FCA programs to dealer technicians. These training programs benefit FCA dealers since New England Tech instructors help expedite the training process of new-hire technicians through important phases of their original equipment manufacturer (OEM) training.

“Students enrolled in New England Tech’s Automotive Technology degree programs benefit from our relationship with FCA since we can incorporate emerging technology into our curriculum,” says Steven Kitchin, 91ֱ Vice President for Corporate Education and Training.
