New England Institute of Technology’s Associate in Science degree program in Veterinary Technology was ranked 35 out of 221 accredited programs in the U.S. by The Best Colleges whose mission is to help match prospective students to those accredited colleges and universities that best fit their academic goals.
According to The Best Colleges, it selected the top colleges and universities that provide hands-on learning with a variety of animal species. Other factors considered were admissions rate, loan default rate, retention rate, graduation rate and the percent of students enrolled in online classes which are all common predictors of future student success and a school’s commitment to its students. Â
All data points were taken from information provided by New England Tech to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), a resource maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics.
One of the reasons 91Ö±²¥â€™s Veterinary Technology program received an impressive ranking by The Best Colleges was because of the university’s commitment to practical, experienced-based learning. 91Ö±²¥ Vet Tech students gain real-world experience working two days a week at the (PIN) Veterinary Clinic in Riverside, RI. The Clinic offers services to low-income pet owners at a 70 percent discount. The PIN Clinic opened in June 2016. Within 48 hours, it received 106 calls from people who were unable to afford the veterinary care their pets desperately needed. Today, thirty veterinarians volunteer time to help PIN’s pets and their owners.
