Nicolas Raimondi, Lab Assistant Veterinary Technology
Nick joins the Veterinary Technology Department, bringing a commitment to caring for domesticated animals and wildlife. He has worked as a Veterinary Assistant and a Veterinary Technician in veterinary clinics and animal hospitals in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, performing such duties as triage, assisting in the ICU, as well as supervising and training staff. In his most recent position, primarily as an anesthesia technician at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, he has worked in emergency, intensive care, surgery, neurology, radiology and MRI.
His experience as an instructor includes serving as the Technician Training Coordinator at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, where he wrote the technician training manual, developed a level of skills checklist and testing system, and organized in-house continuing education programs. He was also an instructor in the Veterinary Assistant Certificate program at Asnuntuck Community College.
Nick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of New Hampshire. He has served on the Rhode Island Veterinary Technician Association Board of Directors as the corresponding secretary and as a liaison between the RI state board and the national board and as the certification chair responsible for checking the credentials of the certified veterinary technicians in the state of RI. He is working towards obtaining his Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification in anesthesiology. Nick has been a Wildlife Care Volunteer in the Tufts Wildlife Clinic and at the Laughing Brook Education Center and Wildlife Sanctuary.
